Cable

We have pretty much always had cable or at least access to the regular TV station. For the past few months I have been thinking about having our cable cut off most of the shows we watch we own or want to buy (they are on our list). We have figured it out that with the money we would spent on cable we can get all the shows we want, and I did some looking on line and alot of stations steam live on the net for free so we will still get out news. I'm going to get a cable so I can hook up my lap top to the TV so I can watch news on a bigger screen. After all the research I've done about living without cable I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. The money we could have saved. So as you may have guessed we no longer have cable. The real funny thing when I called to have it shut off the cable company tried to keep me an acted like there was something wrong with me no longer wanting cable.
Another reason I wanted to get rid of cable is as I get older I'm finding that it's to big of a distraction. There is so much more I want to do and learn and it just seems foolish for us to pay so money for the few shows or movies we would watch, not when you can buy them for alot cheaper. I truly am looking forward to life without cable. Imagine what I will create or learn.

If anyone out there is living a life without cable or TV I'd love to hear from you. I want to hear your pro's and con's. How has it changed your family?
Until Later

Hi There! Yes, we have been without cable for years, and absolutely LOVE our wonderful, creative lives here! Cable TV was a monster that sucked up our time and our health, as we rotted on the couch both physically and mentally. It also damaged our relationships, because we didn't interact or talk as much. We do have Netflix (as you know), and love that! It gives us fun movies to watch but since we can only have a few at a time, we normally only have the TV on to watch them for a couple of hours each night, and rarely ever during the day. Some nights we don't have movies at all. Best to you! Tracy (www.songshine7.blogspot.com, and MY NEW BLOG: www.themamaletters.blogspot.com)

Since moving back to our farm in February we haven't had TV, can't afford pay tv (cable) and are too isolated for free to air, so we watch movies borrowed from the library, and some that we buy, home life is so pleasant.

We have satellite and we do enjoy watching some shows. I can well understand why you did that. I watch a bit at night, but that is it.

Hey there!

We got rid of cable many years ago and haven't regretted it. It got to a point where we felt the programming was a rip for the price they were charging.

As you said, with internet, there are lots of places you can watch good stuff for free and at your convenience. We enjoy Hulu, Youtube, and FoxOnDemand. We've also seen movies on AMC, Lifetime, and the History Channel. Just google your favorite cable channels and see what they offer online.

We don't watch much on weekdays, mostly weekends when we enjoy watching movies with the girls. We've been using Redbox.

I bet you'll find it's like most anything, you'll find out how easy it is to live without it.
